USC vs Utah ;  USC falls to Utah in Pac-12

It was easy to look at Friday's Pac-12 championship as a coronation of sorts for Caleb Williams and No. 4 USC.

Fueled by swarming defense, a strong run game and a gutsy display by floppy-hair fireball Cameron Rising, No. 11 Utah rolled, thrashing USC 47-24 en route to its second straight conference title.

Lincoln Riley's attacking unit looked every bit as imposing as advertised in the opening frame, quickly racing out to a 17-3 lead.

iley's ambition got the best of him. After giving the ball away needlessly on a turnover on downs in their own territory, the Utes got a quick score. Soon, Rising and company found their rhythm. At which point, Williams found the turf.

Fueled by a stout defensive showing — Utah allowed just seven points in the game's final 30 minutes — it was the Utes dancing under streams of confetti when the game ended. One has to imagine similar celebrations were sparked in Columbus and Tuscaloosa, as well.
